Hakima Benjamin, hailing from Newark, New Jersey, is a multifaceted filmmaker passionate about storytelling. Hakima’s journey in the world of cinema began with the award-winning short film "Zahra and the Oil Man", where she served as a co-producer. Collaborating with talented writers, Hakima created television pilots that explore the lives of individuals with hidden struggles, striving for perfection amidst their challenges. Venturing further into the industry, she took on various roles in independent films, including 1st Assistant Director, Script Supervisor, and Unit Production Manager. These experiences culminated in the debut of three films during the 2022-2023 festival circuit. In 2022, Hakima took the reins as the writer, director, and producer of her short film, "Call End", which garnered critical acclaim, winning multiple awards and nominations during its festival run. Building on this success, Hakima wrapped principal photography on her second short film, "Alone", and is now immersed in touring the film festival circuit. Through her work, Hakima is committed to shedding light on the human experience, particularly within the women and BIPOC communities, to spark change and dismantle barriers through impactful storytelling.
