WATCH: uNomalanga and the Witch

In uNomalanga and the Witch, a beautifully shot and intimate short film, a church-going woman in a small South African town becomes obsessed with her hairdresser neighbor —who others in the neighborhood claim murdered her own husband.

This is not a murder mystery waiting to be solved, however. This is a film about feeling out of place, how women are labeled when they don't conform to societal norms, and about the thrill that comes when you meet someone you have a genuine connection with, even when it happens in the least expected way.

Directed by Palesa Shongwe and presented by KQED's Film School Shorts.
