Sophia Nahli Allison is an experimental documentary filmmaker and photographer based in Los Angeles. Her film A Love Song For Latasha, revisits the life of Latasha Harlins through the memories of Harlins’ cousin and best friend. Harlins was a 15-year-old black girl murdered by a Korean store clerk in South Central LA in 1991, two weeks after the beating of Rodney King by the LAPD.

Nuotama Frances Bodomo is a Ghanaian filmmaker who released the shorts Everybody Dies!, Afronauts, an Afrofuturistic look at space travel, and Boneshaker, the latter of which starred Quvenzhané Wallis, the youngest actress ever nominated for an Academy Award. Bodomo also collaborated with Terence Nance on the critically acclaimed variety show Random Acts of Flyness, which airs on HBO.

Akwaeke Emezi is a writer and video artist who was born in Nigeria and currently lives in Brooklyn, NY. Emezi's experimental films include Take the Mark, Ududeagu and Hey Celestial. Emzeki is also the author of the acclaimed novel Freshwater.

Ja’Tovia Gary is an artist and filmmaker based in Brooklyn, New York. Gary's work includes a documentary and music video for rapper Cakes da Killa. She was also a production assistant for Spike Lee's Bad 25 and Shola Lynch's Free Angela and All Political Prisoners.

Ng'endo Mukii is a Kenyan filmmaker and animator known for Yellow Fever, a short animated film about the politics of Black women’s hair.

Jenn Nkiru is an artist and director. Her film Rebirth is Necessary was featured on NOWNESS. She is a graduate of the Howard University film program, whose esteemed alumni include Arthur Jafa, Bradford Young, and Malik Sayeed. Her follow-up film BLACK TO TECHNO explores the birth of the techno genre in Black Detroit music scene . She is also part of the 2019 Whitney Biennial.

Akosua Adoma Owusu is an award-winning Ghanaian-American filmmaker. Four of her films are part of the Whitney American Art Museum Collection. She is adapting the Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie story On Monday Of Last Week into a film.

Cauleen Smith is a polymath artist and filmmaker based in Los Angeles. Her film Drylongso (1999) follows a woman in a photography class who begins taking pictures of black men out of fear they will soon be extinct.
