Two men return home from World War II to work on a farm in rural Mississippi, where they struggle to deal with racism and adjust to life after the war. Nominated for four Academy Awards, including Best Adapted Screenplay. Dee Rees is the first Black woman to be nominated for an Academy Award for writing since Suzanne de Passe in 1973 for Lady Sings the Blues. Mudbound also marks the first time a woman (Rachel Morrison) has ever been nominated for best cinematography in the Academy’s 90+ year history.
